Civil engineering:Directed by the professional standard of the university civil engineering undergraduate guiding, themajor focuses on fostering highly specialized talent who master the base theory, base knowledge and base skill of this subject, and trains them to receive the qualification certificate such as RES (Registered Structural Engineer)、Certified Civil Engineer, Certified Cost Engineer and so on. when they graduated, they could work on housing construction, highway and city road, bridge, tunnel and underground construction, municipal construction, railway engineering, geotechnical engineering survey, design, construction, management, research, education, consultation, supervision, investment, and development and other technical or management station. There are three directions of civil engineering to meet the demand of the market: Architectural Engineering, Transportation& Civil Engineering and Geotechnical & Underground Engineering. At present, our academy possesses a doctor degree discipline of Disaster Prevention& Mitigation Protector Engineering;a first-class master's degree program of Civil Engineering and several second-class master's degree programs such as Structural Engineering, Highway & Railway Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, etc. This specialty is the key specialty in Yunnan Province. Our college is a base of innovative talents culture and got through the national universities education evaluation in May 2007. There is a pilot program of "2+2" China-Australia two-way cultivation. The graduate could get double bachelor's degrees from KMUST (Kunming University of Science and Technology) and University of Newcastle in Australia.
Engineering Mechanics：This major mainly learnthe basic theory and basic knowledge,such as the Mathematic, the Mechanics, the Experimental Analysis, and so on. Students also are trained with engineering technology and experimental technology.It trainsthe student’s capability ofsolving engineering problems by computer and modern experiment technology. This major trains students to work on scientific research, technology development, engineering design of Mechanics and mechanics teaching. The major is a provincial key and characteristic major in Yunnan Province. There are the first level doctor degrees of Mechanics, a post-doctoral research center of Engineering Mechanics, the first level master degrees and the discipline levels are complete. The teachers in the major are very qualified persons: 12 professors, 11 associate professors, 1 famous teacher, and 16doctors.Degree to Be Awarded: Bachelor of Engineering.
Engineering Management:This major mainly learns the basic knowledge of civil engineering technology and management, economic, law related to the engineering management. Students in this major are trained to be primitive engineer, national certified constructor, registered cost engineer, supervision engineer, certified real estate appraiser. When they graduate, the students can work on project decision in large construction enterprises, project management companies etc. Degree to Be Awarded: Bachelor of Engineering
Engineering Cost:This major mainly study the basic theory of engineering cost determination and control, methods and knowledge of civil engineering. The students could get the basic training of certified cost engineers, the ability of Civil engineering technology and engineering economic. The major trains high-level technical talents who can work on whole process of engineering cost determination and control. The students can work on professional work in professional company, for example, building industry, realty business, government departments, specialized banks, engineering cost consultation and bidding agency and so on after graduation. They can also work on feasibility study and economic evaluation of construction project, construction project whole process cost management project valuation. Water Supply and Drainage Engineering:This majormainly focuses on the transport of under water, purification under of water, protection and utilization of water resources. And it is an extensive major which related to the construction of city, industrial production, environmental protection, people's livelihood. The specialty train students to have knowledge in many fields, like water supply engineering, drainage works, water intake engineering, fire protection engineering, flood control works, building water supply and drainage and so on. The students are also required to learn foreign language, computer technology & graphics, pollutant monitoring & analysis, engineering design, management & planning and trained to be a country-level registered Equipment Engineer (water supply and drainage).Degree to Be Awarded: Bachelor of Engineering
Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering:This specialty mainly focuses on thesupplying power system, architectural environment controlling and planning, design, construction, installation, equipment debugging, operation management, equipment development, product marketing of building facilities intelligent engineering. The students mainly study the basis of natural science, building environment, heat transfer, engineering thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and engineering mechanics etc. Students in this major are train to be country-level registered Equipment Engineer (air-conditioning and week electricity). When they graduate, the students can work in design and research institute, engineering company, equipment manufacturing enterprise, management department etc. Degree to Be Awarded: Bachelor of Engineering
City Underground Space Engineering：The students of this major are educated into professionals with knowledge, ability and overall harmonious development, basic knowledge of mathematics, mechanics and humanities and social science. The students need to understand the development and dynamics of urban underground space engineering, master the basic technology and knowledge of urban underground space engineering planning, development, design and construction, get regulation and licensure in engineering. When they graduate, the students can work in enterprise and public institution of urban underground space planning, railway transport, tunnel, municipal administrationetc. Degree to Be Awarded: Bachelor of Engineering
